Slave to the balance

Do you avoid the lines when you're walking on tiles? When you step on a line despite your best effort, do you try to even it out by stepping on a line with the opposite foot too?

Have you ever poured lemonade for you friends, and come back to top-up the first few glasses because the last one had a smidgen more?

Have you felt like you should stop smiling because you've been laughing for the last 30 minutes, and you shouldn't feel this happy for this long?

That took a dramatic turn. Don't worry, this isn't the one post every month where I deposit my regrets and tears. The turn was unintentional, sorry I misdirected you (it was kind of fun). Think about it, objectively though. I think that the need to perceive Balance is as fundamental a human need as feeling safe, loved and being fed. The same way our brain's lead us through a maze of actions for the fundamental goal of feeling safe or feeling loved, the same thing happens when we perceive an imbalance.

I am acutely aware of the balance. I take regular stock of how happy I've been this week, or how much exercise I've done, or how much TV I've watched, and I turn the knobs to maintain it.
